More Bang For Your Buck

In 1953 the US Secretary of Defense Charles Wilson coined the phrase, “more bang for your buck” while searching for a solution that would increase the power of the armed forces while decreasing their budget spending. Fast forward nearly 70 years and this popular saying has become the unwritten mantra for construction owners. Good software will increase productivity while keeping costs low. This is the very definition of ‘more bang for your buck’.

When it comes to choosing the right GPS time tracking software cost is important, but the cost is not the only factor to consider if you want to ensure you are going to get “more bang for your buck.” It’s also important to choose a time tracking software that delivers all the GPS time tracking tools that a construction company could possibly need to streamline its business.

It’s a fair question to ask when it comes to time tracking app features for the construction industry who delivers the most bang for the buck? So let’s dive in!

Features That Set busybusy Apart:

Supervisor Tools

A unique characteristic of owning a construction business is often the owner is not on-site with the crew, he’s back at the office or on another site.  It’s the supervisor who oversees crew members and jobsite duties.  With this in mind, busybusy designed its time tracking app to allow business owners to grant selective administrative access to their jobsite supervisors.

This feature gives supervisors the capability to handle onsite administrative tasks without bothering the big boss.

Supervisor tools

    • the ability to clock in/out crews
    • create and modify employee schedules
    • sign off on requested vacation days
    • create daily reports
    • view equipment location
    • view job costing data based on field labor
    • view the location of jobsite employees based on timestamps.

The Supervisor Tools feature will empower supervisors to handle jobsite issues and ease administrative burdens for owners and it’s only found at busybusy.

Equipment Tracking

If you own a construction business, having a feature that allows you to track and analyze your equipment data is invaluable. Other time tracking apps don’t offer equipment tracking because they were built for coffee shops and nail salons. Busybusy not only shows equipment location, it helps you see the efficiency of each operator.

busybusy’s equipment tracking feature goes beyond simply seeing where your equipment is located in real-time, it also provides

  • the ability to easily track fuel levels and equipment hours
  • View current and past operators
  • assign equipment to current projects
  • associate labor costs with time-on equipment.

The equipment tracking feature will increase profits by improving bidding accuracy and decrease expenses by eliminating time spent searching for equipment.

One excavation owner reported, “Employees can get on the app and drive right to the equipment they’re supposed to be working on… It saves time and money, they’re not guessing where to go.”

Daily Reports

Imagine the capability to instantly generate a daily report that gives an informative overview of a job site’s progress. Efficiency and communication between crews and management would drastically increase. The daily report feature includes…

  • short progress summary submitted by the site supervisor
  • list of employees on-site, with number of hours, worked
  • total hours dedicated to the project that day
  • injury report and action taken
  • weather report
  • hourly cost code summary
  • jobsite photos
  • equipment used
  • easily shared among crew members and management

Busybusy’s Daily Reports feature will take a construction business to the next level of professionalism and productivity with a simple tap of a finger.

Robust Desktop Experience

Busybusy prides themselves on an easy-to-use, powerful mobile app, but that doesn’t mean they’ve neglected the desktop useability of their software. On the contrary. At busybusy, you’ll find a web experience designed for the office staff! Newly added features include a timesheets section, an upgraded employee section, and the ‘My Status’ view, in addition to a customizable company dashboard.

GPS required on-site Clock-in/Clock-out

gps time tracking app feature

This feature was created by busybusy after hearing concerns from supervisors that employees were possibly clocking-in before reaching the jobsite.

Once enabled, Onsite-Verification uses GPS location to require employees to be inside the project radius before they are able to clock in. Supervisors are given the ability to “trust, but verify” that employees are on a jobsite when they sign in

GPS required on-site clock-in can be enabled or disabled according to individual projects or circumstances making it a powerful option.

Safety questionnaire upon clock in/clock out

safety sign off featureWorking construction is a dangerous job. Hopefully injuries are infrequent, but when injuries happen, it’s important to document them quickly and properly for insurance and legal purposes. Busybusy’s safety questionnaire feature gives employees the opportunity to report and record daily any injuries before they can sign out. If employees have nothing to report they select the box stating no injury occurred.

This protects both the employer and employee from injury disputations. Injuries are dealt with quickly and properly and there are no surprise claims weeks after the fact.

In response to Covid, busybusy enhanced their safety features to require a simple self-health assessment for each employee prior to clocking-in. This ensures that every effort is made to protect crews from a potential exposure while protecting your company from liability. If an employee’s health assessment indicates a possible covid risk, they will be unable to clock-in and instead are instructed to speak to their supervisor for the next responsible step.

In an atmosphere of possible injury and illness, these automatic safety reports will give everyone on the jobsite an added layer of protection and peace of mind.

Construction Reports include labor timelines, labor costs, current overtime vs budgeted overtime, and cost code analysis. These reports will help you analyze job costing data from past and current projects. They will also compare a project’s progress in real-time against allocated budgets and labor hours.

Busybusy’s powerful construction reports analyze time tracking and cost coding data, turning your best ‘guesstimates’ into evidence-based absolutes, but don’t take our word for it, the results speak for themselves.
