Construction Technology: Exploring Innovation in the Industry

It’s been a week since the Con-Tech Lunch & Learn! Special thanks to Big-D Construction, BuiltWorlds, Salt Mine Productive Workspace, APiO, and R&R BBQ for putting on this amazing construction technology event!

The room was filled with excitement from Utah’s progressive-thinking construction community, who were ready to engage in an honest conversation about how to create SMART jobsites. Attendees learned that by leveraging software integrations they would be able to enter the new era of the construction technology industry. This conversation had been way overdue, as the construction industry has fallen behind other industries with the adoption of new technology.

Implementing new technology in construction

We had several industry leaders share their insights. Tom Lineen an EVP & General Manager from APiO (shown above), explains that this industry is in need of better integration, automation, and payment management.

Troy Guevara, Solution Engineer at busybusy, shares his insights by highlighting a recent survey showing that implementing technology in construction can help improve data and communication.  Moreover, Troy explains that utilizing technology can provide jobsite data that tells the true story to your company. This data provides insights into the budget, daily profits and losses, jobsite productivity levels, and much more. busybusy is a mobile time tracking app created by contractors for contractors. busybusy helps companies simplify and automate the process of time tracking, documenting the project progress, and monitoring project information.

Construction technology can help improve the overall industry by creating a streamlined management process through the integration of existing systems, accurate data collection, cost reduction, and improved productivity levels and profits.

A key takeaway from this event is that construction business owners will need to continue this tech adoption conversation with their crews and project managers. The advancing technology in construction can improve daily operations, despite the challenges of the overall industry. Going to Con-Tech events like this, provide business owners with the opportunity to connect and learn about new and innovative ways to run their business.
